Children concern and the importance of doing children ministry have caught the attention of the global community today. Many movements in relation to children ministry like the Child Theology Movement, Child At Risk, Children in Crisis, 4/14 Windows, Holistic Child Development etc., have started raising voice for the emancipation of the little ones but regrettably the church dawdles behind the efforts of other organizations on this concern. This movement is not just a fad but rather a need which has long been neglected both by the society and the church. A lot of societal problems can be traced to the negligence of children and their concern yesterday. Today, in a bid to correct this shortfall many movements have emerged and in fact many efforts are being made today at various quarters of the global community: by the government, the NGOs, FBOs and by the church. But the church needs to take further concerted effort to enhance children ministry beginning with training leaders for effective children ministry in the region

Keeping this concern in mind, the Institute of Leadership Enhancement and Ministry Augmentation (ILEMA), under the Eastern Theological College launched the Master of Arts degree programme in Holistic Child Development (HCD) beginning May 2013. And the Master of Arts in Peace Studies in May 2014.
